ABOUT BRINDIS...

Brindis Private Club was born in 2021 in a little village from the north of Spain. Everything started with our group of friends, we use to made clips skating, surfing and painting, purely for fun, same as now. We were always very interested in design, lettering, graphics… so we started making a few T-shirts, and it turned out that people around us liked them quite a lot. That slowly motivated us to keep making more pieces. Nowadays, one of my favorite part of all this is that it’s the perfect excuse to get all our friends together again, since it gets harder every year — I imagine it happens to all of you.

About the name “Brindis”, means ''Toast''(as a fun fact) in the past “make a toast” means referred to an act of peace, since people were killed by poisoning cups, and when clinking glasses, drops from each cup would mix, proving that neither of them was poisoned.
But anyway, putting that aside, we chose it as a joke — “brindar” is simply a good moment among friends, that’s all. The “Private Club” part was also to give it a kind of closed-circle touch, since many people didn’t like what we were doing at the time, and it was a fun way to give it a surname. Now unfortunately it has become very trendy to add “Club” to these modern brands, especially in Spain. We’ve thought about changing it, but for now we’re going to hold on and see if they’re the ones who change it first, we are the real private club.

In the design side of things, we try to create different stuff, new proportions and unexpected colors. A big source of inspiration for us is walking through the streets looking at old signs, where we take letters that we reformulate and develop until we get what we want, also at the glass of our shower, many of our best graphics have also been created. Graffiti side has given us a lot of wisdom when it comes to forming new letterings and combining colors; without it, we probably wouldn’t have done any of this. The reason why we don’t include that many graffiti-style graphics is because we’ve seen that aesthetic a bit burnt out and tired.

Regarding photography, it’s something we’re more and more motivated by. Normally all the models are our friends, so doing the shootings is very funny and we have a great time, but we’ve actually seen very good results lately. All our photos are taken with analog cameras or Polaroids. We have to thank our photographer and team skater Javier de Diego — you can see them in our lookbook. On the other hand, the part of creating videos is something we’re very interested in. We’ve made a couple of videos with little acting scenes between us; it’s very fun to do although complex, especially with our budget. We also have Antonio Llaneza, who is part of the team and with whom we carry all of this out.

Something we really like is that every time we finish a new collection, we make a physical presentations. It’s something that costs us quite a bit of money, and many times things don’t add up financially, but creating all this for most of the visual part to be consumed on Instagram or through a phone is shit, we prefer to do things in real life and get all us together just for an afternoon.

It’s a pleasure to be able to create and for people to be receiving it with open arms. Everyone who buys our stuff is the reason we can keep going.
